Dick Van Patten was an American actor. He is known for his role as patriarch Tom Bradford on the ABC television comedy-drama Eight Is Enough.
Dick was the son of Josephine Rose (Acerno) and Richard Byron Van Patten. Dick’s sister is actress Joyce Van Patten, the mother of actress Talia Balsam. Dick’s son is Vincent Van Patten, a former professional tennis player.
Dick’s paternal grandparents were John Peter Van Patten (the son of Byron Van Patten and Elizabeth Abigail Butler) and Florence Lucinda Tyler (the daughter of Edwin Forest Tyler and Anna Otten).
Dick’s maternal grandparents were Vincent Acerno (the son of Bonevultura/Bonevalturo Acerno and Josephine) and Rose Larusso. Vincent and Rose were Italian.
