Giovanni Morassutti is the grandson of architect Giovanni Morassutti and Maria de Besi. His paternal great grandfather was the Italian entrepreneur Federico Morassutti, a prominent member of the Morassutti family and his great grandmother was Emilia Buzzaccarini from the ancient aristocratic family of Veneto. His maternal grandfaher , Eric Piwko was a German doctor who had Polish ancestry. Giovanni´s paternal great uncle was notable architect Bruno Morassutti married to the niece of famous Italian writer Dino Buzzati.
