Fred’s paternal grandfather was Frederick William Schneider, Sr. (the son of Adolph G. Schneider and Elizabeth Young). Frederick was born in New York. Adolph was a German immigrant, and was the son of Frederick Schneider and Ernstine Fischer. Elizabeth was born in New York, also to German immigrants, Frederick Jung and Mary Müller.
Fred’s paternal grandmother was Elsie Ervine Schiller (the daughter of John Emil Schiller and Josephine Allmann). Elsie was born in New Jersey. John was a German emigrant, from Zweibrücken, Rhineland-Palatinate, and was the son of Charles Schiller and Catherine/Kathrine Braun. Josephine was the daughter of Matthias “Matthew” Allmann, a German emigrant from Bavaria, and of Elizabeth Lynch, who was an Irish immigrant.
Fred’s maternal grandfather was John H. Hohmann (the son of Henry Hohmann and Martha Evangeline Friedgen). John was born in Manhattan, New York City. Henry was a German emigrant, from Hadamar, Hesse, and was the son of Samuel Hohmann and Mary Kreschner. Martha was also a German emigrant, from Bebra, Hesse, and was the daughter of George Friedgen and Elizabeth Kierth.
Fred’s maternal grandmother was Caroline Emilia Breyer (the daughter of Charles Breyer and Maria Leonie Wanner). Caroline was born in Newark, New Jersey, to an Alsatian father and a German mother.
