Bob Uecker is an American Major League Baseball broadcaster, former player, and actor. He was a catcher. His acting roles include George Owens in Mr. Belvedere and play-by-play announcer Harry Doyle in the Major League film series.

Bob is the son of Mary (Schultz) and August Gustav Uecker. His father was a Swiss-German immigrant, from Basel, Basel-Stadt. His mother was born in Michigan, and had German and Irish ancestry.

Bob was previously married to Joyce Irene Jahn, with whom he had four children.

Bob’s maternal grandfather was George Anton Schultz (the son of George Schultz and Katherine Bock). Bob’s grandfather George was born in Michigan, to German parents.

Bob’s maternal grandmother was Mary Driscoll (the daughter of Julia Driscoll). Bob’s grandmother Mary was born in Michigan. Julia was the daughter of Florance Clarence Driscoll and Honora/Hanna Mullins, who were both immigrants from Cork, Ireland. Bob’s grandmother Mary is marked as “illegitimate” on her birth record, which lists her father as “unknown”.
