Christopher A. Wray is an American attorney. He has been Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, since August 2, 2017. He was previously U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division, from September 11, 2003 to May 17, 2005. He was a litigation partner with King & Spalding.
Christopher is the son of Gilda and Cecil A. Wray, a lawyer at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City. He is married to Helen Garrison Howell, with whom he has two children.
