Alex Garland is a British novelist, screenwriter, and director. He is known for writing movies 28 Days Later and Sunshine, and for directing movie Ex Machina. He has also created and directed television minisseries Devs.
He is the son of psychologist Caroline Medawar and political cartoonist Nicholas Garland. He is married to British actress Paloma Baeza, with whom he has two children.
