Samanta Tīna is a Latvian singer, songwriter and composer.
After seven previous attempts to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest (in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2019), she finally won the national selection in 2020. She was set to represent Latvia in the 2020 contest, with the song “Still Breathing”. However, when the contest was canceled, she was internally selected to represent Latvia in 2021 with a new song, “The Moon Is Rising”. She had also participated in the Lithuanian national selection twice (in 2013 and 2017) and competed in the Lithuanian version of The Voice, where she ended in the Top 8.
She has stated that she has Russian, German, Belarusian, and Turkish ancestry. While her family initially spoke Russian, Tīna and her sister Sintija communicated with their parents in Latvian.
