Stéphane Dion is a Canadian academic, political scientist, and politician. He was Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from December 2, 2006 to December 10, 2008, and, as such, was Leader of the Opposition in the Canadian parliament during this time. He was previously Minister of the Environment, from July 20, 2004 to February 6, 2006.
Stéphane’s mother, Denyse (Kormann), was a French-born real estate agent, who likely had German ancestry. Stéphane’s father, Léon Dion, was a Canadian political scientist, of French-Canadian descent.
Stéphane’s paternal grandparents were Thomas Dion (the son of Candide Dion and Louise Dubé) and Alice-Eugénie Dancause (the daughter of Prudent Dancause and Octavie Paradis).
