Katrina Leskanich is an American musician and author. She was the lead singer of the English rock band Katrina and the Waves, with which she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997.
Katrina is often described as having Irish, German, and Slovak or Czech ancestry.
Katrina is the daughter of Cathryn Elizabeth and Theodore Leskanich, a colonel in the United States Air Force. During her childhood, Katrina lived in Kansas, New Mexico, California, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Germany, The Netherlands, and finally England, where she currently lives.
Katrina’s paternal grandparents were Frank Leskanich and Mary. They were both born in Austria-Hungary, and emigrated to Pennsylvania.
