Siim Kallas is an Estonian politician. He had served as the European Commissioner for Transport, from 9 February 2010 to 1 November 2014; European Commissioner for Administrative Affairs, Audit and Anti-Fraud, from 22 November 2004 to 9 February 2010; European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, from 1 May 2004 to 22 November 2004, with Joaquín Almunia; Prime Minister of Estonia, from 28 January 2002 to 10 April 2003; and Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 9 November 1995 to 21 November 1996.

He is the son of Rita (Alver) and Udo Kallas. He is married to Kristi Kartus.

Siim’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fifth great-grandfather, Hinrik (died 23 June 1751).

Siim’s paternal grandfather was Eduard Johannes Kallas (the son of Ado Kallas and Liisa Põdder). Ado was the son of Juhan Kallas and Mari Kalda. Liisa was the daughter of Karel Põdder and Wio Kranberg.

Siim’s paternal grandmother was Marie Weidenstrauch (the daughter of Juhan Weidenstrauch and Mari Stollberg). Juhan was the son of Juhan Weidenstrauch and Marri. Mari was the daughter of Jaak Stollberg and Ewa Nieberg.

Siim’s maternal grandfather was Eduard Alver (the son of Märt Alver and Olga-Emilie Brucks). Märt was the son of Hans Alver and Mai. Olga-Emilie was the daughter of Christian Brucks and Auguste Müller.

Siim’s maternal grandmother was Selma Amalie Henriette Buhmeister (the daughter of Jaunis, or Johann in German, Buhmeister, and of Anna Maria Masgis). Jaunis was born in Wormen, Courland, Latvia, to Christoph Buhmeister. Anna Maria was also a Latvian immigrant, from Riga.
